Top 5 craft projects to do at home

Feeling a little uninspired recently? Here are 5 different craft projects to take you out of your comfort zone, guaranteed to kill that boredom once and for all!

Terrarium
Difficulty level out of 5: ⅖
Tutorial: hereA terrarium can be described quite simply as an abundance of small plants growing in a controlled environment, and that controlled environment is usually a clear container than can be sealed off or open. This means that not only will it look in great in your home, but it’s also a great way to grow succulents and other such plants. Items such as pebbles and soil are used for it’s base, and from there you can plant and top said base however you wish. One of the best things about these are that they can be planted in almost any clear container, from glass cups to lightbulbs, the possibilities are endless!

Cork pinboard
Difficulty level out of 5: ⅗
Tutorial: hereThis DIY project isn’t exactly challenging but it is time consuming, though regardless of those two things, the end result is fantastic and distinctive enough to earn a place in your kitchen. It really is as simple as gluing corks to a blacked out picture frame, but it serves it’s purpose and adds character to any space.

Hand drawn teacups
Difficulty level out of 5: ⅕
Tutorial: hereA great gift idea, it’s easy to personalise these items in a matter of minutes! Using plain mugs of any shape and a permanent marker, you can draw whatever you fancy, whether it’s a sweet message or a pattern, and then all that’s left to do is seal it by baking for half an hour. You’re then armed with a battalion of fun, personal mugs for any occasion.

Cut and fold paper stars
Difficulty level out of 5: ⅗
Tutorial: hereThese decorative stars were inspired by origami lucky stars, and are very similar in creation, just scaled to a larger size for garland purposes and much more. The full tutorial is in the link above, as well as templates for size and folding techniques.

Covered text/notebooks

Difficulty level out of 5: ⅖
Tutorial: hereOne for the (text)books! Make your school or work day a whole lot brighter with this simple way of customising even the most dull of subjects. The tutorial calls for the covering of textbooks, but this could also include notebooks of any size. You essentially just need a print out of any pattern you’d like, or even wrapping paper, and from there it’s simple to size and glue down the paper. Soon enough, you have colourful and fun notebooks to scribble down anything from thoughts and feelings to recipes in.
