How to Make a Rock Style Gift Card Holder by Annie Williams

Do you struggle with creating cards and gifts for men and teens?  The newest stamp sets from Sheena Douglass, “A Little Bit Sketchy – Rock Style”, are perfect for creating masculine projects like this easy gift card holder.

You will need:

  • Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy - Sing
  • Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy - Shout
  • Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy - Beat It
  • Sara Signature Collection Just For Men 6"x6" Paper Pad Brights Collection
  • Die'sire Decorative Dies - Elegance Stamping Frame
  • Spectrum Noir Markers: DR1, DR5, DR7, IG2, IG4, IG7, GB4. GB7, GB9, IB1
  • Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock
  • Big Score
  • Cardstock
  • Adhesive
  • Ink Blending Tool
  • Black and Various Colored Inks

Directions:

Step 1

Trim a piece of blue cardstock to 6.5” x 9.5”, align it with the left side of the Big Score, and score it at 0.5” and 6”.

Step 2

Rotate the cardstock 90 degrees, align it with the left side of the Big Score, and score it at 4.25” and 8.5”.

Step 3

Trim out the area shown using scissors (created by the two horizontal score lines up to the second vertical score line) and leaving small tabs on both sides. Crease all folds well.

Step 4

Fold the tabs inward and apply a strong adhesive. Then, fold the small panel up to form a pocket for a gift card.

Step 5

Stamp the drum set from “Sheena - A Little Bit Sketchy, Beat It” onto some Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock with an alcohol-friendly ink.  Color the image using Spectrum Noir Markers (DR1, DR5, DR7 for the drum shells, IG2, IG4, IG7 for the drum heads, GB4, GB7, GB9 for the cymbals, and IB1 to outline the image).  Die-cut the image using the large square die from the Elegance Stamping Frame set and ink the edges if desired.

Step 6

To decorate the front of the gift card holder, first trim a piece of patterned paper from the Just For Men 6"x6" Brights Collection paper pad to 4” x 5.25” and adhere to the base with tape runner.  If desired, add decorative corners cut from coordinating cardstock to the drum image before adhering. Stamp a sentiment from the “Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy – Sing” stamp set onto Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock using black ink, create a mat from coordinating blue cardstock, and adhere it to the front with foam adhesive.

Step 7

Stamp the rock band and cheering crowd images from the “Sheena A Little Bit Sketchy – Shout” stamp set onto Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White Cardstock using black ink.  Apply colored inks over the images using a foam applicator and trim down to size (~4” x 5.25” for the rock band panel).

Step 8

Adhere the large panel to the inside of the gift card holder with tape runner, tucking it inside the pocket and leaving an even border around the edge.  Adhere the cheering crowd image to the outside of the pocket with tape runner.  Insert a gift card or small notecard into the pocket for your recipient.
